TOO TALL FOR THE SHELF
By Carol Taylor

63" x 83"

This quilt is a tongue in cheek, more abstract view of the inner workings of a Grandfather’s clock that worked perfectly for 90 years----

---as told by the old song:

See this quilt in the lobby of Boston Children's Hospital

 MY GRANDFATHER’S CLOCK

My Grandfather’s clock was too tall for the shelf
So it stood 90 years on the floor.
It was taller by half than the old man himself
And it weighed not a pennyweight more.

It was bought in the morn of the day he was born
And was always his treasure and pride.
But it stopped---short! ---never to go again---
When the old man died!
